TOPS Listings Invitation to Provincial Roadshows
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment would like to invite you to the provincial roadshows to discuss and provide inputs on the following legislative tools published for public comment and in national newspapers:
- Draft Policy Position on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Rhinoceros. Published on 19 September 2023 (Gazette Notice No. 49322);
- Draft Notice Prohibiting Certain Activities involving African Lion (Panthera Leo). Published on 29 September 2023 (Gazette Notice No. 49389);
- Draft Regulations pertaining to Listed Threatened or Protected Terrestrial Species and Freshwater Species. Published on 12 October 2023 (Gazette Notice No. 49469); and
- Draft list of Threatened or Protected Terrestrial Species and Freshwater Species, restricted activities that are proposed to be prohibited, and restricted activities that are proposed to be exempted. Published on 12 October 2023 (Gazette Notice No. 49470).
The roadshows will also be used to discuss Transformation of the Biodiversity Sector as well as the implementation of the White Paper on Conservation and Sustainable Use of South Africa’s Biodiversity that was published on 14 June 2023 (Gazette Notice: 48785) and which (White Paper) is linked to the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
